Davis Chamber of Commerce
Davis, CA. Volunteer build for a local membership organization.
37 of 37
board and ambassador logins tested end to end before staff were invited
The mess
- Membership, renewals and billing ran on MembershipWorks, a paid SaaS platform.
- Event registration and member records lived inside that platform.
- davischamber.org ran on WordPress, separate from the member data.
The system
- Chamber HQ: members, renewals, invoicing and billing, events with check-in, a directory console, a sponsorship pipeline, communications and a staff requests board.
- Member sign-in by magic link or password, and card payments on the chamber's own merchant account.
- A full rebuild of davischamber.org off WordPress, with a member directory and events.
Built with React, TypeScript, Hono and D1 on Cloudflare.
The outcome
- The first working platform was built overnight, 6 to 7 July 2026.
- Card payments live since August 2026: real cards charged, refunded and voided on the chamber's merchant account.
- Autopay proven end to end, with a person approving each charge before anything is taken.
- All 37 board and ambassador logins tested end to end before the staff invitation went out.
- Member sign-in and the events calendar run on the new platform.
- The rebuilt davischamber.org crawled at 462 pages with zero broken pages and zero missing titles, descriptions or canonicals.
- Running alongside MembershipWorks while the chamber decides on a full cutover.
